55 | 47 You don't have to worry about risc g-lining you from the "official" IRC |
48 network for no apparent reason, and refusing to even admit to having
49 g-lined you. Since the whole purpose behind AnoNet was to create a
50 censorship-resistant alternative to the government-censored "public"
51 Internet, arbitrary censorship on the "official" AnoNet1 IRC network by
52 anonymous government members is particularly troubling. AnoNet2 has
53 no "official" IRC network, and the servers most commonly used have
54 interesting channels bridged with a relay bot, so even if you manage to
55 annoy an IRC server operator to the point where he decides to g-line you
56 from his whole "network," that doesn't automatically prevent you from
57 connecting to another server and accessing one of the bridged channels.
58 (Obviously, if you manage to annoy the operators of all the linked servers
59 to the point where all of them g-line you from their respective "networks"
60 and nobody wants to let you relay your own server in, then you're probably
61 out of luck. Of course, that doesn't prevent you from running your own
62 IRC server, and those who want to hear you can still join it.)

252 =head2 What You Can Contribute
253 | |
254 Well, each of us has his own wishlist, but most of us are working on
255 moving stuff from our TODO lists to our DONE lists, so you're looking
256 at a bit of a moving target. You're more than welcome to contribute
257 anthing you want, and if it's interesting and/or useful, it'll probably
258 attract a following. That said, here are a number of things that would
259 benefit the AnoNet as a whole:
260 | |
261 =over | |
262 | |
263 =item Client Ports | |
264 | |
265 When a new user wants to connect, he'll normally come in through a
266 client port. The more client ports are available, the harder it is for
267 any individual client port to abuse its position (for example, if the
268 local government decides to try regulating it).
269 | |
270 =item Public Email Services
271 | |
272 Currently, every AnoNet user who wants an email address on AnoNet has
273 to set up his own mailserver. AnoNet1 used to have a public email
274 service so people could get email addresses without running their own
275 mail servers, but it hasn't been online in nearly a year (although the
276 AnoNet1 Web continues to advertise it). SRN is working on setting up
277 such an animal on AnoNet2, but competition here is a good thing.
278 | |
279 =item IRC Servers | |
